Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair on Thursday, 14 July, approached the Supreme Court with a plea seeking to quash all six First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against him in Uttar Pradesh.
Cases have been filed against the fact-checker in UP's Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hathras, Ghaziabad, and Muzaffarnagar.
Zubair has also challenged the constitutional validity of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in Uttar Pradesh in six FIRs registered against him.
The Supreme Court had on Tuesday extended the fact-checker's interim bail in a case filed against him in UP's Sitapur.
However, the relief extended by the apex court did not apply to other cases filed against him in UP and Delhi.
Meanwhile, Zubair appeared in a court in UP's Hathras on Thursday over two cases that have been registered against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Zubair was initially arrested on 27 June for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through a tweet he had posted in 2018.
