A forest fire which started at Bandipur Tiger Reserve And National Park in Chamarajanagar District on Saturday, 23 February, continues to rage on Sunday morning, ANI reported.
Two maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces near Gumla, Jharkhand. Two AK-47 guns were seized by security forces after the encounter, ANI reported.
Ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) late Saturday night, a statement said.
The Chief Minister's Office in the statement said he was taken for an upper GI endoscopy. "His health condition continues to be stable," the CMO said, adding Parrikar would be kept under observation for around 48 hours.

Two children who were abducted from a school bus in Madhya Pradesh's Chitrakoot on 12 February were found dead in a river in Uttar Pradesh's Banda, ANI reported. A post mortem is being conducted, ANI reported.
A US judge set a USD 1 million bail for R&B superstar R Kelly on Saturday, 23 February, after prosecutors laid out in graphic detail what they said was his long history of sexual abuse of four victims, three of them minors, PTI reported.
Kelly, who is known for hits like "I Believe I Can Fly," surrendered to police late Friday. He is charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against the four females, one of them as young as 14 at the time of the alleged crimes, PTI added.

Protests broke out in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, after two children who were abducted from a school bus in the district on 12 February were found dead in a river in Uttar Pradesh's Banda today. Section 144 of the IPC, which prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in an area, has been imposed in Chitrakoot.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Aman Thakur was killed in Kulgam encounter on Sunday, 24 February, reported PTI.
The encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and kashmir on Sunday, police told the news agency.
Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Turigam area of Kulgam district following information about presence of some militants there, a police official said.
He said the militants opened fire on security forces, who retaliated, triggering a gun-battle.
Fire broke out at an oil factory earlier today; 12 fire tenders present at the spot. No injuries reported.

There was an attempt to hijack a Dubai-bound flight in Bangladesh, reported AFP.
Three ultras of the banned Peoples Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Gumla district today, a senior police officer said.
The incident happened at Amtoli forest under the jurisdiction of Kamdara police station.
Additional Director General of Police (Operation) M L Meena told PTI that the three were killed during the encounter with the personnel of CRPFs CoBRA unit and the Gumla district police, about 94 km from Ranchi.

An engineering student drowned in the Kuakhai river near on Sunday afternoon, a fire service official said.
The deceased, identified as M Khatua (21), was a final year student of a private engineering college.
The incident happened at Bankuala on the outskirts of the state capital when the student, along with his friends, was taking a bath in the river, the fire service official said.
His friends tried to pull him out but their efforts went in vain, he said.
