Justice Karnan Orders ‘Accused’ SC Judges Not To Travel Abroad

Karnan said if the “accused” are allowed to travel abroad, they will spread the virus of caste discrimination.

After the seven Supreme Court judges who were summoned by Justice CS Karnan, including Chief Justice of India JS Khehar, did not appear before the court on Friday, the Calcutta High Court judge issued fresh summons to the top court judges to appear before him on 1 May.

Justice Karnan also directed the authorities to “not to permit the said accused” to travel outside the country till the case has been heard by the court.

He added that if the “accused” are allowed to travel abroad, they will spread the virus of caste discrimination to other countries.

Today the above-mentioned accused 1 to 8 are called absent hence their matter is re-posted to 01. 05. 2017 [Monday] to enable their reappearance. In the meantime, this court directs the Air Control Authority [referring to the Airports Authority of India] New Delhi, not to permit the said accused 1 to 8 from going abroad until the disposal of this crucial issue.

Since the nature of the offence, that is caste discrimination, is not only a heinous crime but also a very cruel atrocious act of heinous crime, and is punishable as per the Constitution.

In the fresh summons issued, Justice Karnan has added the name of Supreme Court judge Justice R Banumathi.

Justice Karnan had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging corruption by sitting and retired judges.

The Supreme Court in February had issued a contempt of court notice against Justice Karnan for allegedly disrespecting the judicial institution. But neither Justice Karnan nor his lawyer showed up before the court, forcing the SC bench to defer the case. He, however, responded to the court order saying that the notice was issued because of the apex court’s caste bias against him.
