A viral video of a burkha-clad girl dancing in a Mangaluru mall has drawn the ire of Islamic organisations, who have lashed out against the act calling it 'unislamic'.

The girl, in the video, is seen dancing to the popular Bollywood number 'Kala Chashma' with four other girls in what appears to be a promotional gig.

Speaking to TOI, Ismail Shafi, vice-president of South Kanara Salafi Movement said:

Dancing in public, wearing a burqa – a sacred symbol of Islam, in front of men is not acceptable in our religion. The young woman has shown our religion in poor light.

He added that the girl was free to have removed her burkha and danced.

"Every human being has freedom in Islam, including women."

Further slamming the girl's family for 'throwing aside the values of religion', Shafi said that the organisation will track down the girl and her parents, and educate them on religious values.
