The second phase of the Bihar election is scheduled to be held on October 16. Polling will be held in 32 out of 243 seats in this phase, with 456 candidates in the fray.
The Quint looks up some stats from the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report.
31 per cent or 142 candidates have criminal cases against them with the BJP, JD-U and RJD having the maximum number. Of this, 11 candidates have declared cases related to murder while 36 face attempt to murder cases.
There are 106 crorepatis of the 456 candidates. JDU & RJD have the most crorepatis, according to the ADR data. The richest candidates included Kaushal Singh (BSP) with total assets worth Rs 45 cr, followed by Gopal Narayan Singh (BJP) with assets totalling Rs 42 cr. Of the 456 candidates in phase 2, there are only 31 women candidates against 425 men.
