In his tweet, he also referred to a snippet of a speech by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee where he says that the country’s interest should be held in greater importance than that of political parties and governments in power.
Earlier, Yeddyurappa’s comments attracted controversy after he said India's “pre-emptive” strikes on terror camps in Pakistan has created a wave in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will help the party win over 22 of 28 seats in the state in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Soon after VK Singh’s comment, Yeddyurappa issued a clarification on his statement, which he claimed was “reported out of context”. He said that he had only said that the “situation is favourable for BJP”, something that he has maintained for “last couple of months”.
