The Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) YP Singhal held a conference on Friday to update on police action being taken in response to incidents of sexual assault that reportedly occurred during the Jat reservation protests. He said, however, that no complainants had come forward yet. Although 30 casualties had been confirmed, he added that no concrete evidence had been found to prove that any rapes had happened during these reservation agitations.

The DGP said that the police have decided to station 3 women police officers (1 DIG, 2 DSPs) in Sonipat to look into the rape incidents, and that the stationed officers would also be available on the phone from 3 pm on Friday to take calls from victims.

Their numbers are:

  • Rajshree Singh (DIG) 9729995000
  • Bharti Dabas (DSP) 8053882302
  • Surender Kaur (DSP) 9729990760

The DGP also asked the media to come forward with any information that could help the police in investigating these incidents that were reported to have occurred.
