Kajal Roy, from Asana village of Chhattisgarh, mortgaged her jewellery to build over 100 toilets with the help of other women of the village.
Roy has also sold some of her jewellery, adding that toilets are more important than them. The funds raised will be used to make bricks that will be used in the construction of these toilets.
Commenting on the task undertaken by her, Roy said:
There were some fund issues, so I mortgaged my jewellery. Also,we made the bricks on our own, along with other women... Jashpur collector Priyanka Shukla’s speech last year moved me,I decided there & then to take up this noble initiative.
