The Gandhinagar police will probe the allegations of bigamy and cheating levelled against senior Gujarat cadre IAS officer Gaurav Dahiya by a Delhi – based woman earlier this month, officials said on Wednesday, 24 July.

While the Delhi police had sent the woman's application to their counterparts in Gandhinagar for further probe, Dahiya has also approached the Sector-7 police in the Gujarat capital with his plea, in which he alleged that he has been honey-trapped and blackmailed by the woman, they said.

“Both the complaints are in the form of applications. The woman’s application has been sent to us by Delhi police for further probe. Dahiya, too, had given his application to us few days back. We will conduct an inquiry into both these applications,”
Mayur Chavda, Gandhinagar District Superintendent of Police,
Dahiya, a 2010-batch IAS officer, was transferred to theGeneral Administration Department (GAD) as a Joint Secretary on July 22. He was earlier serving as the Mission Director of the National Rural Health Mission in Gujarat.

In her application, the woman claimed that despite being married, Dahiya kept her in the dark about his wife and tied the knot with her in February 2018. She said she came to know about his marriage later.

“He lied to me that he will soon divorce his wife. We got married in February 2018 in Tirupati. I have photographs and videos of our wedding. When I insisted to get our marriage registered, he started torturing me and even blackmailed me by showing some intimate photos,” the woman alleged in her application.

After the application reached Sector-7 police few days back, Dahiya also submitted an application against the woman and sought an inquiry claiming that she was lying.

“Dahiya claimed that she honey-trapped him and started blackmailing him. He also claimed that the woman morphed the photos of their alleged wedding to extract money from him. In the application, he even claimed that though both of them had arrived at a compromise earlier, she started harassing him with false claims of marriage,”
M K Rana, Deputy SP,

The officer added that the police will call both the parties with relevant proofs to support their respective claims.
