The Delhi Police on Friday questioned the brother and the father of a 40-year-old woman who allegedly honey-trapped and blackmailed KC Patel, a BJP MP from Gujarat. Her father and brother were questioned about her educational qualification, the people she was in touch with and whether they were aware of this case, said the police.
The woman had earlier been arrested from her home in Ghaziabad on Tuesday. The police also found that she had extorted over 20 politicians leveling charges of sexual assault and molestation.
KC Patel, the MP from Gujarat's Valsad, had filed a complaint with the police, claiming that the woman, in her 30s, had drugged him and shot obscene videos.
The woman had approached a city court, claiming the police did not act on her rape complaint against the lawmaker.
She was picked up from her home in Ghaziabad and questioned, following which she was arrested on Tuesday and produced before a special court, which sent her to five-day police custody.
Police said the police teams went to the woman's residence and found hidden cameras which she installed in her bedroom. She used to first call prominent businessman and politicians including MPs, MLAs at her house in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram, develop a physical relationship by mutual consent or making her targets drunk and captured their private moments with the help of CCTV cameras.
She had in 2016 also leveled similar charges against senior politician, Shadi Lal Batra. But when police had started investigating the case she later denied her charges and backed off to avoid legal action against her, the officer said.
