Intelligence agencies in Jammu and Kashmir suspect that Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists used YSMS – a software service or a similar application to communicate with each other till December 2018, reported The Times of India.
The TOI report further states that the intelligence sources have reportedly accessed a copy of the messages exchanged on YSMS. One of the messages read: “Successful funeral of Mujahidin Jish Muhammad.”
According to the news report, the app uses high radio frequency to send encrypted messages.
The app has been available since 2012 but terror groups have now developed a version that uses a frequency which can’t be detected by monitoring devices.
Speaking to the daily, an official said that JeM and Lashkar terrorists have added a layer of encryption that can’t be “seized by any surveillance device at the moment.”
