Sulekha Rai a government school teacher and the mother of RTI activist and Vyapam whistleblower Anand Rai has been handed over a suspension letter by the district authorities for attending a Congress meeting in Harda, The Indian Express reported.

The NSCB Government Primary School teacher was tagged as “sahayak adhyapak” by a newspaper report.

The suspension letter was signed by the chief municipal officer in Harda, where municipal election is scheduled next month.

The suspension order stated that the government school teacher had violated Rule 10 of Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules, 1966.

Anand Rai, the suspended teacher’s son alleged that the suspension was unfair as his mother was not served with a show cause notice to appear before court, prior to the suspension.

Rai claimed that his mother had visited the party meeting to meet the long time friend and Congress leader Rajkumar Patel. The Rai family has had a close association with the Congress leader for more than two decades and Sulekha was just visiting the him out of courtesy.

Rai also cited instances of other government employees who were with the RSS and BJP but no actions were taken against them.

Those who sing paeans to the BJP are protected. Many government employees attend RSS meetings (and) a senior IAS officer made a presentation in a BJP meeting on agriculture.

Even though his mother Sulekha Rai did not give a speech in the meeting or raise the Congress flag, she is still being dragged into the political games, Anand said.

Rai alleges that the suspension is an aftereffect of the recent accusation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan against the Indore based RTI activist of employing dirty tricks.
