Singrauli Police have begun investigation into the disappearance of Puranlal Verma , the father of Vyapam scam accused Deepak Verma whose mysterious death in a road accident is currently being probed by the CBI.

Kaileshi Devi, wife of Puranlal, had filed a complaint with the police alleging the abduction of her husband on 22 June at a local police station in Singrauli district.

Deepak, a student of the government medical college in Indore, died in a road mishap in 2010, three years before the Vyapam case came to light in Indore. Puranlal and Kaileshi Devi had demanded a probe in the matter.

Earlier, in July the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) closed the probe in 12 out of the 24 Vyapam-related deaths, concluding that they weren’t related to the deadly scam.
