The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Monday withdrew the notification recommending a CBI probe into the sting operation involving Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
The sting purportedly showed Rawat negotiating a deal to buy support of disgruntled Congress MLAs.
BJP reacted sharply, alleging Rawat was shying away from investigating the matter as he was “afraid of being caught”. The state BJP president Ajay Bhatt called it another testimony to Rawat’s “guilt”.
The notification was issued on 2 April when the state was under President’s rule.
