Three Agra policemen were suspended after they were caught on camera, in a sting operation by a TV channel, accepting cash in return for a staged encounter.
Among the three officers -- Jagdamba Prasad, Station House Officer (SHO) of Basai Jagner police station, Balbir Singh, sub-inspector of the same police station, and Sarvesh Kumar sub-inspector at Chitrahat police station -- Kumar was heard saying that he would gun down an innocent civilian for a sum of Rs 8 lakh.
In the clip, Kumar is also heard explaining how he would falsely implicate someone by planting evidence, subsequently naming him an accused, and ultimately shooting him down in an “encounter”.
On the other hand, Prasad and Singh were heard saying that they could do anything for the positions of SO (station officer) and station in-charge respectively.
"One can do anything for this charge of a station officer. Killing, bribing, anything can be done for this post,” Prasad told India Today reporters, who posed as businessmen wanting to frame a “fictitious competitor” in a ploy.
