The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government will work towards constituting a task force to put a halt on illegal possession of government land.

In a crackdown against land mafia, it has also decided on creating a three-level task force to take appropriate action against them.

These measures come after the state ordered a probe into the distribution of ration cards issued by former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s government.

They also recalled around 80 lakh ration cards and ordered a fresh survey of families living Below Poverty Line.

The new Aadhaar-linked ration cards will be revamped with silicon chips and barcodes. Till the new cards are made available, the beneficiaries will be provided with paper slips to purchase ration.
