Two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 lakh from a local BJP leader in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district claiming that they possess his 'objectionable' CD, the police said on 8 November.
Shekhar Dansena (23) and Pitamber Dansena (18) were picked up yesterday for allegedly harassing Kharsia Municipality president Kamal Garg and demanding Rs 10 lakh from him, a police official said.
Adding that on directions of the callers Garg went to Dabhra Road in a bid to catch them, the official said:
He identified one of the duo and lodged a complaint with the police on 25 August against Shekhar Dansena and four others, following which a case was registered under sections 384 (extortion), 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC he said.
While one Indar Jhariya was arrested October in connection with the case, Shekhar Dansena and Pitamber Dansena were picked up on 7 November.
