Just after the tunnel is a “big workshop type area” which has ventilation and drainage facility along with storage space for arms and ammunition.

The tunnel was built by the British and the entrance was covered with a wall. When some old timers told Governor that a tunnel existed during British times, he asked PWD to break the wall.

The President has been briefed about the discovery and experts have been deployed to ascertain the history of the tunnel.
