The hall was filled with smoke and slogans. The pink leaflets with a message of revolution were scattered in the air. On 8 April 1929, there was an explosion in the Central Assembly (the present-day Lok Sabha), an incident that changed the course of Indian history.
It was this day which led to the arrest of Bhagat Singh, his trial at a British court and ultimately his death. The police were anyway on a look out for him in the case of British police officer, John Saunders’ assassination. Bhagat Singh died a martyr’s death giving way to the uprising of young in India’s independence struggle.
