Landslides in the Ramban district of Jammu region on Sunday forced the closure of the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway, which had been briefly restored for traffic on Saturday, an official said.
“Intending travellers should not undertake journey on the highway before getting in touch with our control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar to know the latest status of the road,” said a senior traffic department officer in Jammu.
Authorities on Saturday ordered closure of all schools in the hilly Doda and Udhampur districts of the Jammu region after an avalanche warning was issued by the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE).
