A Tihar jail prisoner, who had last month, in April alleged that an ‘Om’ symbol was branded on his shoulder using hot metal by the jail superintendent Rajesh Chauhan, on Tuesday, 14 May told a Delhi court that he is being pressured to "either withdraw the case or compromise," The Indian Express reported.
The daily quoted Nabir as telling the magistrate that the jail authorities are pressuring him. Metropolitan Magistrate Richa Parihar, however, did not respond to the accusations against the jail authorities saying that she hasn't gone through the status report filed by Tihar. She has asked for time till 24 May to go through the report, according to The Indian Express.
TIE reports that Nabir's lawyer, Jagmohan Singh has said he hasn't been given a copy of the report and expressed apprehension over the jail's findings.
Nabir had alleged that he was subjected to inhuman treatment in the jail, deprived of food for two days and an ‘Om’ symbol was branded on his shoulder with hot metal by the jail superintendent Rajesh Chauhan, ANI had reported.
