The agitation for the Jat quota is wreaking havoc in Haryana and the neighbouring states in an attempt to to attain an “OBC quota” status for the community.
In the last 24 hours, nearly 15,000 Jats have turned parts of Haryana into a riot zone.
They burned down the house of a senior state minister, destroyed railway tracks and blocked the National Highway. The Army and Paramilitary forces had to be airdropped, but looting and arson continued despite the curfew and flag marches.
Private airline carriers, however, are making hay in this time of crisis. Air tickets from Haryana’s capital, Chandigarh, to Delhi and vice-versa could cost you anything between Rs 20,000 - Rs 90,000. Take a look.
