Thane Municipal Corporation’s anti-encroachment drive took a controversial turn on Thursday after Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal and his bodyguards got into a tiff with auto-rickshaw drivers as they were blocking the approach road to the station.
This comes just a day after Sandeep Malvi, the deputy municipal commissioner, was allegedly assaulted by street hawkers in broad daylight.
The drive was launched to raze all illegal constructions and encroachments in the city.
