The Dalit families in Tamil Nadu’s Karur region who have been protesting after they were denied entry into a temple festival, returned their voter identity and Aadhar cards in protest. They also threatened to convert to Islam.

If such discrimination continues then we will be forced to convert to Islam, no one is addressing our problems.

More than 200 Dalit families alleged that they were not allowed to conduct the festival. They also conveyed disappointment at not being allowed to enter the Mahasakhthi Amman temple in their region.

According to DNA, volunteers of the Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamaat (TNTJ) have circulated copies of the Quran in the village. Six Dalit Hindus from the village have reportedly already turned to Islam.
