Nupur Talwar and Rajesh Talwar spent 1,451 and 1,471 days respectively at the Dasna Jail since 2013, when they were incarcerated for the double murders of their daughter, Aarushi, and domestic help, Hemraj.
However, even as inmates they continued practising as dentists and earned the wage of Rs 40 per day for their services, which amounted to Rs 98,000 at the end of four years, jail officials calculated. The Talwars decided to donate the entire amount to the jail as charity, Times of India reported.
During their stay in the jail, Rajesh worked at the dental clinic revived inside the jail’s hospital, while Nupur assisted him when female inmates needed any procedure done.
On the other hand, Nupur worked on various activities undertaken by the jail authorities including tailoring at stitching for female inmates, with the help of the NGO India Vision Foundation.
Jail authorities said that the couple also donated their books to fellow inmates.
