Bengaluru-based Ethereal machines created a bust of US President Donald Trump and his daughter, Ivanka, with the use of their Halo 5D printer, a machine that can make anything – from a watch to a T-shirt to even sculptures, said the company’s founder, Kaushik Mudda, to BloombergQuint.
Attending the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 in Hyderabad, Mudda told BloombergQuint that the machine is the world's first hybrid manufacturing machine which performs 'subtractive manufacturing' and 3D printing too.
Even though Ethereal is not the first to produce a 5D machine, it costs 40 to 60 percent lower than alternatives in the market.
Printing on five axes instead of three adds the capability of depth and production of complex structures. The applications could be in the aerospace and aviation sector and even in automobile manufacturing, Mudda added.
Mudda's future goal is to showcase the company's creations at CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
