The Supreme Court, on Friday, 11 May, dismissed a petition seeking an independent investigation into the death of actor Sridevi, who passed away in a Dubai hotel due to "accidental drowning" on 24 February.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said, “the Supreme Court has already dismissed two similar petitions. So it can’t be entertained again,” Live Law reported.
As per Live Law, senior advocate Vikas Singh, who appeared for the petitioner, contended that there were insurance policies in her name in Oman, which would be payable only if she died in United Arab Emirates.
The petitioner, Sunil Singh, moved the apex court after the Delhi High Court had on 9 March refused to entertain his PIL, saying authorities in India and Dubai had already looked into the incident
Two months after her death, the veteran actor was concurred with a National Award for Best Actress for her performance in Mom.
