An SPG Commando from the security cover of Congress President Sonia Gandhi who was missing since 3 September has been found. He was traced on Thursday near Delhi’s Tilak Marg.
Kumar said that due to financial problems he was stressed and didn't go home on 1 September after he was dropped at the Udyog Bhawan metro station, the Delhi Police quoted him as saying.
On 1 September, Rakesh Kumar, the commando, reported for duty to the Congress Party President’s 10 Janpath residence. However, it was found that he was not supposed to come in for work that day as it was his day off, as The Times of India reported.
During investigation, police found that the 31-year-old left from the Gandhi residence at 11 am that day after meeting his friends there. He however left his service revolver and mobile phone behind and was unreachable by his family and police. Kumar lives with his wife and two children in a rented accommodation in Dwarka.
When he was unreachable on 2 September, the family assumed he may have had his duty extended by a day. On 3 September, they assumed he might have had to go to a remote location without connectivity.
A missing person’s case was filed by Rakesh’s father and investigation is underway.
