The impact of the crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses in Uttar Pradesh has now reached Aligarh Muslim University.
The hostel mess serves meat for at least one meal everyday and the authorities have been forced to switch to alternatives like chicken and fish, the prices of which have gone up in the wake of the meat ban, The Indian Express reported.
The move may result in a hike in the mess fees for the students.
Faizul Hasan, president of AMU Students' Union told The Indian Express:
