Bodies of three women and a man were found hanging from the ceiling fans in their rented flat in Surajkund, Haryana on Saturday, 20 October, ANI reported quoting police officials.

Police revealed that the four deceased were siblings, adding that they are suspecting it to be a case of mass suicide after finding a note highlighting their financial troubles.

The case came into light after a caretaker noticed foul smell coming out of rented flat in Surajkund's Dayalbagh area on Saturday morning.

The four deceased were found hanging in two separate rooms and were all unmarried. They have been identified as: Meena Matthew (52), Neena (51), Jaya (49) and Pradeep (37).

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Inspector Vishal Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Surajkund police station claimed that the four members of the family took their own lives.

Police also suspected that the family members killed themselves roughly four days back. The inspector told the national daily that the case is being investigated.

The residents of the Dayalbagh area also suspected it to be a case of suicide as one of the neighbours revealed to the daily that the family members had previously borrowed money from the neighbours.

“Some of these family members were ill and financially weak. I gave them Rs 24,000 some time ago.”

The neighbours also informed that the four had lost their parents recently. Both the parents had died less than six months ago.
