Firing On High Seas: One Injured, ONGC Denies Responsibility
One fisherman was injured when a patrolling boat allegedly opened fired at a fishing boat near Mumbai.

A dramatic shooting off the coast of Mumbai, has left one fisherman injured. The Maharashtra Macchimar Kruti Samiti claims that a patrolling boat allegedly opened fire at a fishing boat 24 nautical miles north of Uttan.
32-year-old fisherman Shushant Agnel Luzi was arranging his fleet when the firing occurred, said Narendra Patil, Secretary of Maharashtra Macchimar Kruti Samiti.
The injured fisherman was airlifted and brought to Juhu airport and later shifted to Nanavati Hospital, where his condition is said to serious.
This incident has induced an atmosphere of fear among the fishermen.

A report on CNN IBN has quoted the Akhil Maharashtra Fishermen Association, alleging that an ONGC surveillance boat shot the fisherman on the high seas.
However, ONGC has trashed the reports, insisting that they do not have any surveillance boat.
