Shobhaa De has a few thoughts on RK Pachauri. She minces no words in describing him - pest, creepy crawly, pitiable creature, monumental fool, cheap, third rate sexual predator.

In a scathing note, the 67-year old author and columnist remembers the one encounter she had with the environmental scientist and the “distinctly dirty vibe” he gave her.

“Had he spent more time looking after his heart and less on dyeing his hair jet black, perhaps he wouldn’t have reduced himself to this pitiable creature who has lost everything he has worked his entire life for - his prestigious posts, but mainly his self-respect, because of his despicable conduct.”

Defending the complainant’s decision to continue with her professional stint at TERI, De pre-empts any insinuation or attempt to tarnish her image.

“They will say she is to blame for “encouraging’’ the man and it is she who has a “loose character”. In other words, the woman asked for it! Oh no, she didn’t! She endured the harassment up to a point perhaps hoping the bully would back off.”
