The Shiv Sena and MNS aren’t the only one’s to be incensed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation‘s (BMC) ban on the sale of meat – the decision has created quite a stir on social media.

Everyone from politicians, to media personalities and actors have been tweeting about the meat ban, and their reactions range from outrage to humour.

Senior journalists and political commentators weighed in on the meat ban, pointing out its political context.

Not everyone is against the ban or the Maharashtra government and the BJP when it comes to the ban. Censor Board member and film-maker Ashoke Pandit weighed in on the issue.

Many people though, just expressed their exasperation at the ban with some even seeing it as hypocritical.

There were also people from the Jain community, whose sentiments the ban is meant to protect, objecting to it.

And of course, there are some people who will comment on everything, all the time. We just couldn’t leave out the infamous KRK.
