After audio tapes containing alleged conversations between Indrani Mukerjea, Peter Mukerjea and his son Rahul Mukerjea were disclosed on Thursday evening, Peter, who is arrested in the Sheena Bora murder case, claimed that he knew about the tapes and helped Rahul in making them easy to decipher.

I know about the tapes. If I would have committed a crime I would have not helped Rahul with the transcripts.

Indrani Mukerjea also spoke to CNN News 18 on Friday and claimed that she was aware of the tapes and also said that she urged Rahul to file the FIR.

CBI Reacts

The news channel which found the tapes claimed that CBI did not use 13 of the 20 tapes which had crucial information in them.

Later on, CBI spokesperson came out to say that CBI had taken the tapes into account during its investigation.

CBI lawyer told the court that the agency is ready for framing of charges and it has sufficient material in the case. The lawyer assured that the CBI has been probing all aspects of the case, not just financial transactions.

Peter and wife Indrani have been jailed for allegedly killing Sheena Bora, her daughter from an earlier relationship, in 2012. Bora was engaged to Rahul, who is Peter Mukerjea’s son from his first marriage.

After Sheena disappeared, Rahul Mukerjea urged the police to help locate her, claiming that there was every sign that something had gone terribly wrong.

The taped conversations going on to four hours, revealed him confronting Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.

Both of them claimed that they were in touch with Sheena and that he should “forget about it”.
