Shashi Tharoor has tweeted and has left the people of the country looking for their dictionaries yet again. While we all try to deal with our ‘farrago’ of thoughts every time the Congress MP tweets, Tharoor put out another tweet to address the issue, only to leave us in the same situation again. On Thursday Tharoor tweeted:
Explaining his choice of words for the sake of ‘precision in communication’, Tharoor taught the country a new English word ‘rodomontade’, which means ‘ boastful or inflated talk or behaviour’
Within hours of his tweet, the word ‘rodomontade’ was trending on Google.
And of course, followers had a field day. Omar Abdullah immediately advised people wanting to learn English to start following Shashi Tharoor on Twitter.
Someone even took to challenge Tharoor on why rodomontade was the “precise word” to be using in the situation.
A few followers have demanded their school fees back.
One of them called Tharoor ‘a secret agent of Oxford’.
Some even advised him to put out such tweets once every month to improve the country’s vocabulary.
Well, whether we understand his tweets or not, Twitter definitely has a gala time after Tharoor tweets. A few months back, Tharoor had put out a tweet slamming Arnab Goswami who had accused him of hiding information about the death of his wife, Sunanda Pushkar. His tweet said, “ Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations & outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist.” Most of the nation almost fainted. And Google saw heavy traffic for one word that night.
