Just when Indians on Twitter are playing with the slogans ‘Chowkidar’ and ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’, former Gujarat chief minister Shankersinh Vaghela filed a burglary complaint against his security guard (chowkidar), accusing him of stealing cash and gold from his home.
According to the FIR lodged at the police station on Sunday evening, Nepali was employed by the Vaghela household four years ago. He lived at the former CM’s home ‘Vasant Vagdo’ in Gandhinagar along with his wife and two children.
The family questioned their domestic staff about their missing cash and jewellery, when it was revealed that Nepali was responsible for the security of the room from where valuables were looted. Only he and his wife had access to the room.
Vaghelas immediately contacted Nepali and asked him to return to work, but he didn’t. As the days passed, Vaghela realised that his security guard was not going to return and filed a complaint against him at Pethapur police station.
