There is more bad news for Sandeep Kumar.
The minister has been sent to a three-day remand by a Delhi court on Monday. He was produced before Poonam Chaudhary, a Special Judge, after termination of his one-day police custody.
The former Social Welfare, and Women and Child Development minister was arrested on 3 September following a sexual assault complaint by a woman.
He was charged with section 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison with intent to commit an offence) of IPC, under section 67A of IT Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (public servant taking gratification other than legal remuneration for an official act).
The woman who featured in the leaked sex tape even claimed that she was drugged and raped by Kumar. She further alleged that the CD was made after he became a minister.
She said that she had gone to meet Kumar for his help in getting a ration card. She was asked to wait at the minister’s office and then offered a cold drink which was allegedly spiked, after which she was raped.
On Saturday morning, the sacked minister of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lost his primary party membership. And, by afternoon, the woman filed a complaint against the minister in Sultanpuri police station.
By evening, Kumar arrived at the Deputy Commissioner of Police office in Rohini to surrender. Meanwhile, the woman was taken for a medical test.
Kumar was previously involved with Anna Hazare and his team in the anti-corruption movement.
He was sacked after a CD that contained an ‘objectionable’ video landed at AAP’s office in Delhi. The Quint has access to the video that shows the minister in a compromising position, but editorially decided to not publish it. As the issue intensified, the sacked minister said the person in the video was not him. He also claimed he was being framed for being a Dalit.
