A day after a veterinarian’s body was found on 28 November morning in Hyderabad's Shamshabad area after she was allegedly raped and then murdered, another woman’s burnt body was found in the same locality. Police says her age was in the mid-30s.

The woman’s body was found behind a temple at Fort Road in Saidulgatta in Shamshabad. Initial probe suggests the possibility of a suicide and no apparent links to the case involving the veterinarian so far, according to the police.

Inspector P Vijay Kumar who was at the spot told The Quint that several teams have been formed to ascertain her identity.

“Initial probe suggest that she has committed suicide. A witness has told us that she was sitting with a kerosene bottle next to her and crying about a fight with her husband. We have sent teams to the areas close by to find out if someone had been missing after a fight or anything.”

“No one has been detained for questioning yet. Since she was Hindi speaking, teams are being sent to Hindi-speaking localities,” Kumar said.

The body has suffered over sixty percent burns and has been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem.

A sniffer dog was also brought to the spot to investigate and forensic team members were at the spot collecting pieces of cloth and other objects that would help ascertain the identity of those involved.

The nation witnessed an outrage after the charred body of a 26-year-old, who was allegedly raped and murdered, was found at an underpass near Hyderabad, on 28 November. She was on her way home the previous evening, when two men waylaid her after deflating her bike’s tyre. Four suspects have been arrested in that case.
