Another explosion in the heart of Imphal city, four persons were killed while 25 others are injured on Wednesday evening at Imphal market complex.
The injured were taken to Regional Institute of Medical Science Hospital for treatment; the condition of some of them is said to be serious.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far, sources said, adding that two of the victims were non-Manipuri persons.
The incident has taken place less than a month after an explosion that injured five persons – three police personnel and two women were injured.
As reported by The Telegraph, the medium-intensity blast took place at a time when the state police were on high alert in view of the series of visits by Union ministers in Manipur.
BJP’s Minister of State, Kiren Rijiju visited the blast site. “The frequency of these blasts in the North-East, especially in Manipur is a major worry. I will be meeting security agencies in the region to come up with a combat plan,” Rijiju told ANI.
