The Supreme Court on Wednesday, 5 September, agreed to hear next week a PIL seeking a stay on the Rafale fighter jet deal between India and France.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud considered the submissions of advocate ML Sharma that his plea be listed for urgent hearing, reported PTI.
In his PIL, Sharma alleged discrepancies in the fighter jet deal with France and sought a stay on it.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo, seemed to slam the criticism around the controversial aircraft deal, as he called Rafale "a beautiful and capable aircraft".
