A woman was burnt alive after having been gang raped allegedly by five men in her house in Gunnaur area of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, the police told PTI on Sunday, 15 July.
The incident occurred late on 13 July, when the 30-year-old woman was alone in her house with her daughter, the police told the news agency, adding the five men barged into her house and allegedly raped her.
The five later took her to a nearby hut and burnt her alive, said Gunnaur Circle officer Aqil Ahmad, quoting from the complaint lodged by the woman’s husband. He said an FIR has been registered in the case against five men, who are Aram Singh, Mahaveer, Charan Singh, Gullu and Bhona.
On 16 July, the SP told ANI that two people have been arrested in the case.
The body of the woman has been sent for autopsy and the police has launched a manhunt to nab the rest of the accused, who are absconding, PTI reported. The woman’s husband is a labourer and resides in Ghaziabad.
