In Mumbai, a police constable’s son is under the scanner for harassing a 19-year-old girl, as he had allegedly uploaded her photos and contact details on a social networking site.
After the girl started receiving unsolicited presents and strangers at her doorstep, she filed a complaint, Mid-Day reported.
Police sources have said that the accused, Siddhesh Mitbavkar, used to study in the same college as the girl.
Mitbavkar started to follow her around after college and justified his actions by saying one is allowed to be protective of their friends, according to police.
The girl blocked Siddhesh’s phone number to avoid being harassed by him, but he took a new number and began stalking her through that.
He uploaded her details on social media and posed as her online as he talked to other men, inviting trouble for her. When the men turned up at her house, they came across her father who noted down their details and then eventually pieced together Mitbavkar’s stalking.
The girl's father immediately asked her to return to Mumbai. “She was obviously shocked to find the profile and all the messages on it. She and her father rushed to Meghwadi Police station to file a complaint against Siddhesh.”
Meghwadi police has registered a case against him and they are collecting evidence to arrest him shortly.
