On Wednesday, 17 January RC Mishra, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Ambala Range said rape is a part of society. “Such incidents have been taking place since forever. The role of police is to probe, nab criminals, and prove things. We are leaving no stone unturned to do that. We must work to stop such incidents from recurring,” he told ANI.

This statement comes after six rapes were reported in four days across the state.

Speaking in defense of the ADGP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson for Haryana Jawahar Yadav told CNN News 18 that that words of the ADGP have been misinterpreted. The BJP government is constantly working towards curbing crimes against women, he added

The previous government did not even bother to register FIRs. Our government is carrying out thorough probe and has also set up women police stations in each district of Haryana.

In lieu of the recent rapes that have taken place, former chief minister BS Hooda met the governor to complain about the failing state of law and order under the BJP government led by Manohar Lal Khattar. The Congress has demanded the dismissal of the state government, reported The Statesman.

Addressing the issue, Chief Minister Khattar urged his fellow politicians to not politicise the matter and has assured to take strict actions against the culprits. The 'Dial 100’ project and the '1090’ project would begin operations soon, which would help in ensuring women’s security in the state, he said.

Under this project, women in danger could instantly contact the police and the matter would be looked into at the earliest, reported the Financial Express.
