Yoga guru Ramdev on Sunday, 26 May, said that the government should implement a law that would make the third child in the family devoid of his/her voting rights, as a suggestion to control population, reported ANI.

“India’s population should not be more than 150 crores in the next 50 years as we are not prepared nor ready to bear more than that. This will only be possible when the government makes a law that the third child would not be allowed to vote, neither contest election nor he/she would enjoy any type of privileges and facilities given by the government.”

He further added that this will ensure that people would not produce more children, irrespective of their religion.

‘No Access to Govt Schools, Jobs’

In January, Ramdev had suggested an idea that would make the authorities take away the voting rights and jobs of people who gave birth to more than two children.

Last year, Ramdev had said that people who had more than two children should not be given access to government schools and jobs, and facilities at government hospitals.

At the press conference, he also said that a complete ban should be implemented on cow slaughter. He added that such a measure was the only way to decrease the conflict between cow protectors and cow smugglers.

According to ANI, he said, "There should be a complete ban on cow slaughter and it is the only way out to end the conflict that we see between cow smugglers and 'gau rakshak'. For those who want to eat meat, there are several other types of meat which they can eat.”

Furthermore, he called for a nation-wide ban on liquor. He said that liquor is banned in Islamic countries. He questioned that if liquor could be banned in Islamic nations, then why could it not be banned in India – the land of sages.
