Ram Rahim Moves Punjab and Haryana High Court Against CBI’s Order

Ram Rahim was convicted of raping two women and was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment on 28 August.

The former chief of Dera Sauda Sacha, Gurmeet Ram Rahim has now moved the Punjab and the Haryana High Court against his conviction by a CBI Court in August. The disgraced cult leader was convicted of raping two women and was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment on 28 August.

Additionally, allegations of plotting the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh are also leveled against the former Dera chief. The CBI Court will be hearing the case on 25 September & 27 October respectively.

The self-styled godman is currently lodged in Sunaria prison, in Rohtak district.

Several parts of Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan witnessed large-scale violence following his conviction on 25 August by the CBI court.
