Bollywood’s popular character actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav along with his wife and a company have been convicted in a recovery suit filed against them. The Karkardooma court convicted the actor, his wife and a company for failing to repay the loan of Rs 5 crore. The court has set 23 April as the date for his sentencing.
According to reports, the case dates back to 2010 when Rajpal Yadav took a loan from a Delhi-based businessman MG Agarwal for his Hindi debut film as a director, Ata Pata Laapata. Agarwal filed a case against Rajpal Yadav and his wife after they failed to repay the loan of Rs 5 crore.
Earlier, Rajpal Yadav was also remanded to 10 days judicial custody for the very same case in 2013 for concealing facts. The court had ordered for the attachment of the assets of the couple and his bank account and a company owned by him.
In 2015, Rajpal Yadav had claimed in court that he had returned Rs 1.58 crore and that he would payback the remaining amount in a month’s time. Rajpal Yadav is known for his performances in films like Company, Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Maalamaal Weekly, Bhoolbhulaiya and Hungama.
