Congress President Rahul Gandhi was trolled for not knowing the details of NCC training during an interactive session held at Maharani's Arts College for Women in Mysuru on 24 March.

Responding to a question by a student at the session on the benefits he would like to extend to the NCC cadets who have cleared 'C' certificate examination, Gandhi admitted he was "unaware" about their training to give an answer.

I don’t know the details of NCC training, so I won’t be able to answer that. But, as a young Indian I’d like to give you an opportunity where you can have opportunities, a successful education and a future where you can thrive in this country,”
Rahul Gandhi

Speaking to ANI, a female NCC cadet said she hoped Rahul Gandhi learns about the institution.

Another NCC cadet Hardik Dahiya took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi's statement. He said at a time when the cadets require are doing everything for the society, he should know about this.

After Gandhi’s comment, the troll brigade didn’t waste much time to react.

However, some on Twitter came out in support of Gandhi for his ‘honest response’.

"More than 99 percent of politicians/civilians are not well aware about the NCC. Rahul was at least, honest enough to accept it, least he too have uttered pure fakery like the emporer of bhakts," said another user.

Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to the poll-bound Karnataka's old Mysuru region till Sunday, was taking questions from the students in a 30-minute long interaction. During the two days, Gandhi will be holding public meetings and interacting with party cadres and people in Mysuru, Mandya and Chamrajnagar districts, IANS reported.

The NCC, which operates under the defence ministry, recruits and gives military training to cadets in high schools, colleges and universities all over the country.

Under the voluntary programme, students have examinations with 'A', 'B' and 'C' level certificates, with the C certificate being the highest, giving the students benefits of special entry into the military and government services in the country and priority in competitive examinations.
