A day after his interaction with students at New Jersey’s Princeton University, the Congress vice president addressed NRIs in New York’s Times Square on 20 September before concluding his two-week US tour.
Taking a jibe at the Modi sarkar, he said India’s reputation as a peaceful and harmonious nation is being threatened by divisive forces in the country.
In his speech, he slammed the deficit of jobs in India under Narendra Modi, saying the Prime Minister has only been able to ensure 450 jobs a day. India, he said, needs 30,000 new jobs every day.
Praising the Indian community’s contribution to the country’s progress in the past, he urged the Indian diaspora in America to come forward with their ideas to help transform India.
Earlier on 19 September, Gandhi said there was a lot of space for cooperation between the US and India in the creation of jobs and in the education sector. "So, I think there is a lot of synergy between the two countries,” he said.
