The Iranian Parliament complex and the shrine of Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran were attacked by armed assailants on Wednesday. One security guard has reportedly been killed, while several others have sustained injuries in the attack. The Madhya Pradesh farmers are on a ten-day protest demanding the government waive their loans. Higher Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) is another of their demands. The protests have caused prices of vegetables to soar and a shortage of milk. The government has imposed a curfew in the area.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Naseem Zaidi addressed a press conference on the upcoming Presidential elections. Outlining the process and rules of the electing the President, Zaidi said that the term of incumbent President Pranab Mukherjee would end on 24 July.
