1. Honour Killing in Rajasthan: Seven Held for Burning Woman Alive

Seven people have been arrested for burning alive a 27-year-old woman in Rajasthan, in what can be called a case of honour killing.

The incident took place on Friday. The victim identified as Rama Kumwar was set on fire allegedly by her family members for marrying a man from another caste eight years ago in Dungapur district.

Kumwar had eloped after her marriage and returned to visit her family along with her little daughter. Read the full report on The Quint.

2. AP Minister’s Son, Driver Arrested for Allegedly Molesting Teacher

Ravela Susheel, son of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu was arrested, on Sunday, along with his driver, on charges of misbehaving with a 20-year-old teacher.

Susheel appeared at Banjara Hills police station on Sunday and surrendered after his lawyer failed to get bail.

Meanwhile, Ravela Kishore rubbished the allegations.

3. Crushed Bodies of 18-Year-old Boy, Minor Girl Found on Railway Tracks

Crushed bodies of an 18-year-old boy and a minor girl were found on the railway track in East Delhi on Saturday morning, reports The Indian Express. Police is awaiting the autopsy report but is suspecting that the duo might have committed suicide.

A suicide note was recovered from the boy’s pocket. Though not clear, but prima facie it seems like they were in a relationship. For more read here.

4. T Nadu: Protest Demanding Action Against Serial Molester Priest

Residents of a Tamil Nadu village staged a blockade on Sunday demanding action against a priest who was a serial sexual harasser, reports The New Indian Express. Locals of Kuppampalayam of Namakkal district protested in front of a Diocese Society.

The accused identified as Samuvel Aaron, the priest in the society, was accused of sexually harassing women for which complaints were also lodged with the police. For the full report visit here.

5. Odisha: Ex-MLA Detained in Bombing Case

A Congress MLA in Odisha was detained on Sunday in connection with a bombing case, reports The Telegraph. Ramesh Jena’s house was first raided and then he was detained because of a bomb attack on a Congress councillor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation on February 29.

A pistol along with several other weapons, mobile phones and cash worth several lakhs was found in the raid. Though Jena pleaded innocence, police say there are nearly 20 cases pending against him. For more read here.

6. Rajkot: Sisters Kill Own Children, Hang Themselves

After the Thane homicide, comes another one from Rajkot, where two sisters murder their children before committing suicide, as per a report in The Indian Express.

The two sisters, married to the same family are suspected to have strangled their minor children and then hung themselves, on Saturday. Domestic quarrel is suspected to be a motive. However, nothing has been confirmed and an investigation is underway. Read the full report here.

7. Hyderabad: Over 5,500 Booked in Drunk Driving This Year

It is just the third month of the year and 5,500 cases of drunk driving have already been registered in Hyderabad and Cyberabad, reports Deccan Chronicle. Over 800 motorists were booked for drunk driving in the past two months.

Social workers are suggesting that police check points near liquor shops might help curb this menace which the Traffic DCP (Hyderabad) AV Ranganath plans to implement. Full report available here.

8. Hyderabad: Four Held in Sanjay Junge Murder Case

Four men who were suspected to have killed Sanjay Junge, the software engineer have been held in Secunderabad on Sunday, reports NDTV.

All the accused are aged between 18-20 years. Junge was stabbed twice after which he bled to death. Full report available here.

9. Bengaluru: 20-Year-Old Stabbed to Death

A youth was arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder of a college student, reports The New Indian Express. The deceased identified as Samson, 20, was murdered by a certain Prakash on Friday night for allegedly sending indecent message to his sister.

Bengaluru police, however, claims that Samson and Prakash were strangers to each other. Samson was stabbed multiple times leading to his death. For more read here.
